We went to the people who know best—our employees. Discover what they have to say below.

  • Whitney

    Whitney Hatfield

    RN, Medical ICU

Being able to comfort a patient or family member during what may be their darkest hour is enough for me to feel like I am making a positive impact in someone’s life. Having a great team standing with me makes that possible.

The work environment in an ICU can be fast-paced. But for Whitney, having a great team ready to pull together during tough situations makes providing excellent care for her patients achievable. Working in the ICU also gives her an opportunity to use all of her nursing skills throughout the day a skill set she’s intent on strengthening and growing.

  • Selma Dula

    Selma Dula

    Specimen Processing Coordinator

At our facility, we have the feel of a community hospital. We all know each other’s names and really feel like a family. But we also have everything that comes with being part of a larger hospital system like UNC.

Putting others first. That’s what Selma does every day by bringing great patient-centered care to the people of North Carolina. It’s not only her focus, it’s the goal of the entire UNC Health system. She’s excited by the recent investment in the Caldwell facilities and knows that in the future the new construction and technology will help her and her team bring great care to more patients.

  • Brad

    Brad Olson

    Respiratory Therapist, Cardio Pulmonary

UNC is just a great place to bring your career if you want to advance it. You have so much support for growth and development. It’s really a place to move forward.

Brad started his career in health care on the sales side. And he’s been able to bring some of the skills he learned during that time to being a Respiratory Therapist, including a focus helping the customer. Now, he’s able to combine those talents with genuine compassion to deliver quality care to the people of North Carolina.
