Job Summary: Performs multiple modality procedures including but not limited to Radiology, CT, MRI, Mammography at a technical level that will require independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions: Prepares patient for modality procedure and the MRI patient for scanning. Provides overview of MRI imaging techniques. Identifies safety issues in MRI. Produces diagnostic quality CT exams. Maintains the safety including radiation safety of the patient and the technologist. Assists Radiologists in performing special exams under CT guidance. Conducts or supervises patient reporting and tracking. Produces diagnostic quality radiology exams. Maintains level of competency through education requirements. Demonstrates behavior consistent with the goals of the organization. Is able to identify and address the needs of different patient age groups (Pediatric, Adolescent, Geriatric) and demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with these patients.


Education and formal training: High School Graduate. Satisfactory completion of formal training in AMA approved school Radiologic Technology. Must be registered in Radiology and additional modality; i.e. CT, MRI. Deemed competent to perform such procedures.
Work Experience: No formal training or experience needed if the person has the above educational requirements.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Verbal communication skills required to relate to people of varying levels of education and background. Must be able to handle stressful or confrontational interactions with patients. Must be able to handle emergency situations with patients. Knowledge of health care services, specifically imaging modalities and how departments relate to each other.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to turn, position, and transfer patients. Must be able to assume awkward positions such as bending and twisting. Must be able to effectively operate diagnostic equipment. Must have near visual acuity to assess patient’s physical condition when performing exams, and to evaluate film for diagnostic quality. Must be able to speak and hear for communication with patients with assistance, can lift and support an average of 150 pounds.
